Mrittika
Mrittika was an Indian fashion accessories brand of Rumi Craft LLP that aimed to provide its clientele with products exhibiting an elevated aesthetic, made with authentic handcrafted fabrics and leather alternatives, while working directly with a myriad of craft clusters in India, with emphasis on fair pay, sustainability, social conscience and transparency.
As it’s Co-founder and Creative Head, I worked directly with the craft clusters, design production, exhibitions and marketing initiatives.
Rooh | Summer
Mrittika's very first collection called 'Rooh' comprises of Ajrakh designs that take inspiration from the architectural motifs of Islamic tradition such as latticed windows and arches, grouped togethe to form tessellating patterns.
The name 'Rooh' also indicates the soulfulness that natural dyes bring forth on fabric. They are at peace on the fabric, neither too vibrant, nor too dull- not seeking attention but not shunning it either.
Musaafir | Fall
'Musaafir,' Mrittika’s second major collection based on the craft of Ajrakh, is inspired by ancient nomadic tribes—their patterns of adornment, linear and simple yet bold, their travels which relied majorly on the positions of stars in the sky, and their profound knowledge of astronomy.
Paridaiza | Summer
Paridaiza brings together the delicate art of Chikankari with the gifts of nature.A bud opens on one panel; a vine tenderly climbs up on another while leaves and flowers wrap around each other in a melodious dance, executed by the skilled hands of the craft community members in the district of Barabanki near Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Prithu | Upcycling
Prithu is Mrittika’s upcycling and sustainability initiative and the Prithu collections are made from the remnants of the previous main collection, plus any fabrics donated to the company, which are in a good shape and abundant quantity to be used as shell fabrics.
