Homo studenticus globensis

Welcome to Homo studenticus globensis.

This book and exhibit  emerges from a remarkable journey that began with a chance discovery—a transparent box adrift in the waters of Providence. What seemed at first glance to be an ordinary object soon unveiled a compelling tale of a past RISD international student and their friends woven through the enigmatic contents of this coded specimen box.

The story unfolds within the walls of the Edna Lawrence Nature Lab, a sanctuary of curiosity and exploration. Equipped with an array of tools and expertise, the researcher at the lab embarked on a quest to decipher the secrets held within this mysterious artefact. Nostalgic notes, delicate fragments of material, and symbols steeped in cultural significance emerged as fragments of a life left behind, waiting to be understood.

As the work progressed, the researcher meticulously documented their findings, creating an index that captured the essence of each element. A vivid narrative emerged through diagrams that captured forms and textures—a testament to the experiences and memories embedded within these remnants of a life lived abroad.

The culmination of this adventurous project is presented here in a compendium that celebrates the intersection of art, fiction, culture, and scientific inquiry. Homo studenticus globensis invites you to delve into a world of discovery, where every detail tells a story.
